Unlike traditional careers in business, medicine, and tech, there is no clear blueprint or path to success for those who aspire to make a living through the creative arts.
The Indie Corner will strive to become the central platform through which individuals at Columbia can discover, develop, and showcase their creative talents by providing key services allowing the artist to focus on the art.
Many creatives fail to properly develop their talents due to a lack in both support and resources; and in the world of today, artists are expected to be proficient in skills even outside of their domain just to stay afloat.

The first line of action will be creating a database of active creative students across the university. Artist Reviews will allow is to do this while also serving as a means to regularly introduce artists to the general Columbia community. Our journalists will pick a specific area of interest and curate a selection of artists to feature on a periodic basis.
Every month, a creative will be selected as the featured artist in one of three categories: Music, Art & Design, or Film & Photography. Featured artists will be chosen by ArtC staff and will receive extended reviews as well as promotion during the month they are featured over all ArtC digital channels.
Journalists will also review any recently released student projects they like, arts related events, and other school resources geared towards the creative arts.

Once the network and viewership has grown large enough, the next domain will be live shows. Live shows will be the culmination of results from every other channel of operation. Creative experiences can only go so far in the digital realm. Live shows will provide tangible proof of progress for the creatives we feature and habit worthy entertainment for those who find and support those creatives via our platform.
The ideal show will be a set list of performing music artist as the headliners with artists, crafters, and photographers set up throughout the venue as people explore and mingle during intermissions.
Supplementary shows would include weekly endeavors like networking nights, open mic nights, themed dj nights, and spoken word/poetry nights.

Visual media is by far the most preferred method of consumption in today's time. ArtC will leverage this by building a team skilled in photo and video providing quality content to serve as the base of all artists showcases.
These roles will be responsible for the creation and presentation of all media from ArtC to the public. Graphic and web design personnel will need proficiency in apps like the Adobe Creative Suite and Webflow.
Curators will be the eyes and ears of ArtC. Curators will bring in talent from across the university to showcase while journalists help to cultivate a reputation of quality arts that we intend to use as the primary platform for Columbia creatives.
The Live Events team will be the physical face of ArtC. This team will consist of personalities/MCs, DJs, interviewers, events coordinators, and researchers to ensure consistent, safe, and enjoyable events for both the artists and fans.
